SPLACHNOBRYUM SP. AND SPIROGYRA SP. UTILIZATION STUDY AS COPPER (CU) BIOSORPTION AGENT IN RERCLAMATION AREA GRASBERG OPEN PIT

Mining activity currently produce acid rock drainage that give negative effect for the environment. Acid rock drainage is a compound with lower pH value and high heavy metals content, these factor would risk the environment if not treated well. Acid rock drainage can be solved using biosorption meth...

Acid rock drainage is a compound with lower pH value and high heavy metals content, these factor would risk the environment if not treated well. Acid rock drainage can be solved using biosorption method. Recent study explain that Spirogyra sp. and Splachnobryum sp. has this bio-ability for copper using their compound called phytocelatins. Therefore goal of this study is to find out both species potency of copper biosorption and to find out concentration of dissolved copper accumulated in both species. This study conduct distribution analysis that affect adsorption ability both species, copper content analysis from the acid rock drainage and both species, also using Langmuir and Freundlich Isotherm model to do the analysis. From this research known that both species had ability for biosorption copper up to 95,6% form water sampel, with biosorption percentage average 52,02% of Splachnobryum sp. and 51,93% of Spirogyra sp. Copper accumulation ability of reach up to 247 mg/kg and for Spirogyra sp up to 211 mg/kg. text
