The covid-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020 has raised public awareness of health. This thesis focusing on hospital and its pharmacy unit. Pharmacy unit focus is to deliver a drug supplies and other pharmaceutical goods to customer/patient. As consequence, pharmacy unit also contributes significantly to the operating cost of a hospital, so it must be managed properly in order to have efficient cost and in the other hand effective in customer service level. XYZ Hospital will be the object to be evaluated for its pharmacy unit inventory. This study will discuss about overstock and understock product or in this study identified as inventory discrepancy that will affect the customer service level. Root cause analysis was defined by The Current Reality Tree (CRT) methods, it is found that there are three root causes, supplier out of stock, Unpredicted high demand and poor inventory management. While in this study will be focus on the poor inventory management root cause. Data from interviews with pharmaceutical unit employees as well as sales and stock data from February 2021 to July 2021 will be used. These data are used to improve service levels and provide better inventory management. This paper uses continuous review policy and EOQ to see and compare the actual average inventory level with the calculated average inventory level. Furthermore, this paper will also provide a method of cycle-counting using ABC analysis to improve the accuracy of stock calculations. The results of this paper are that XYZ hospitals can have a potential saving cost up to 1,317,743,727 IDR based on the Q method calculation and can also increase its service levels from 75.64% to 95%. All the solutions provided are expected to solve the problem of understock and overstock experienced by XYZ hospitals. text |
