information on the types of waves detected at each location of the cognition area. By recording brain wave activity, it is possible to identify the dominant brain area when receiving a certain stimulus. Beta waves (13-30 Hz) and Gamma (30-100Hz) are types of brain waves associated with complex
cognitive functions and are involved in higher information processes. This study aims to present several profiles including: (a) Cognition through geometry puzzle tests, b) Beta and Gamma brain waves between hemispheres, and (c) areas of cognition dominance in students at SDN 113 Banjarsari, Bandung City. The research methods used included: (1) a
qualitative study of puzzle tests with different levels of difficulty for 2 minutes and divided into 3 sessions, and (2) a quantitative study using Muse EEG to measure brain wave activity, in 22 participants in grade 1 elementary school (age 6-7 years), divided into 2 groups, namely female students (N=11) and students (N=11). The division of the qualitative study session consisted of 3 treatments (1) Initial baseline for 1 minute (T1),
(2) Geometry puzzle test treatment for 2 minutes (T2), and (3) Final baseline
for 1 minute. The data generated from the quantitative study is in the form of Post Spectral Density (PSD) values for each inter-hemisphere Beta and Gamma wave. The results showed that the results of the geometry puzzle test mean scores of male and female students were not significantly different with a success of 51-100% (p>0.05). The results of measurements of the mean inter-hemisphere Beta and Gamma waves showed that in the T2 condition, the mean left hemisphere was significantly larger than the right hemisphere (p<0.05). In the T1 condition, it can be seen that the right and left hemispheres have fairly balanced activity and are not significantly
different (p>0.05), but in the T2 condition the mean PSD value of the
tempoparietal cognition area is larger and significantly different compared
to the anterofrontal cognition area (p<0, 05). The process of learning to recognize shapes and remember geometric shapes appears dominantly in the left hemisphere, especially in the limbic system, which in this case is represented by the temporoparietal area. Therefore, the results of this study support the left hemisphere function theory of the left brain which processes cognition in the form of geometric shapes.
