Description
Summary:Project Delivery is a phase of the asset life cycle that governs the design and construction of a project until it materialises as a structure that involves service users and service providers. Design-Build (DB) is a method of delivering infrastructure in which the design and construction activities are bundled into a single agreement/contract and conducted simultaneously. Implementing design-build in project delivery is an alternative solution for enhancing added value in cost, time, quality, and risk transfer from service users to service providers. Because consultant and contractor are integrated from the beginning to the end of the project in the design-build method, they have the opportunity to collaborate and engage in conversations that can enhance creativity, innovation, and comprehension of the work. The implementation of design-build must satisfy four criteria/requirement parameters, namely the completeness of the regulations governing the implementation of design-build, the understanding of service users and service providers (including the supply chain) of the concepts, principles, and requirements for implementing design-build, the competence of service users, and the competence of service users. Indicators of criteria/requirements that affect the success of design-build implementation were obtained using the Relative Importance Index (RII) method. This study identified eight factors as impediments to applying the criteria/requirements, resulting in several alternative solutions to surmount impediments and satisfy the criteria/requirements when implementing design-build in West Java Province.
