Summary: | As social beings, humans often interact and socialize with certain individuals or groups. In
forming relationships with others, we feel special when we gain affirmations and appreciation.
Frequently, the efforts we’v done to have ourselves accepted and get recognition make us change
or manipulate our personality. Unknowingly, this has formed the character of human beings who
are alienated from themselves. Attempts to please others are made solely to protect themselves
from the discomfort of the judgment of many people, but in fact, humans are increasingly timid,
closed and alienated.
This artwork is reflected as a form of expression of one's alienated and fearful thoughts in the
representation of human gestures. The reduction linocut medium supports the creation of this work
because in the process of extracting it can gradually produce strokes and shapes typical of a lino
medium. The resulting characteristic of the lino cukil can be one of the features of expression
reflected in the gestural figures in this work. The creation of this work aims to raise the theme of
alienation as a social phenomenon but also close personally. This work is an imaginative
expression of the thinking of a human being, therefore the achievement of this work seeks to reflect
the character of alienation in the figure of human gestures.
