This thesis focuses on the application of OpenSim, an open-source musculoskeletal modeling and simulation software, for gait analysis. By utilizing OpenSim, a comprehensive understanding of the biomechanics involved in human gait can be achieved, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation strategies for individuals with musculoskeletal impairments. This paper discusses the use of available human musculoskeletal models, and pairing it with motion capture data obtained by the action cameras setup through several steps done within the OpenSim – scaling, inverse kinematics and dynamics – thus, obtaining dynamic simulation of human walking motion, up to estimating the muscular activity based on the experimental data. The results of the musculoskeletal gait analysis using OpenSim yielded muscle actuator model activation simulation without using surface EMG. The results highlighted the complex interplay between muscle activations, joint forces, and kinematic patterns during gait. The study demonstrated the potential of OpenSim as a powerful tool for personalized biomechanical analysis, that is still within relatively low budget and simple equipment. text |
