Therefore, effective management is needed so that the potential of water resources can be utilized as well as possible in various aspects of people's lives. One of the emerging approaches to address the issue of global water scarcity is Water Stewardship. UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) defines water stewardship as the use of water that is socially just, environmentally sustainable and economically beneficial. In this context, this research focuses on PT M, an automotive company that is part of a large Japan-based company. PT M is one of the production operational units with increasing water demand as production capacity grows. The research method focuses on a water vulnerability study, which is supported by calculations of demand, projections, and water quality indices. The source of clean water at PT M comes from PDAM water and rainwater utilization through a rainwater harvesting system. According to the calculation of projected water demand at PT M, in 2031, the availability of PT M's water resources began to be unable to meet the total water demand for domestic, non-domestic and industry. Based on the research results, PT M has water resource vulnerability. The social vulnerability indicator (SVI) and environmental vulnerability indicator (EnVI) has the highest contribution of 36.6% to PT M's water vulnerability, followed by economic factors vulnerability which has the smallest contribution with a level of 26.8%. Overall, the three factors have a strong influence on PT M's water resource vulnerability with relatively similar portion ranges. The calculation of the water quality index shows a result of 82.67 at the Outlet point which is classified as a good category, at the Upstream and Downstream points, the results show 51.03 and 53.37 respectively which are classified as moderate. Water quality degradation around PT M is more influenced by the activities of other parties, from domestic waste discharges and other industries. To prevent and reduce the impact of vulnerable conditions at PT M, there are several efforts that can be made, including the use of advanced technology for waste recycling, utilization of treated water from PT M's WWTP as a raw water source for PDAM, utilization of water bodies around PT M as an alternative water source, and collaboration with government, community, industry, and the private sector to create sustainable water governance. text |

: The importance of the availability of water resources for human life and
the economic growth of a country or company cannot be ignored. Therefore,
effective management is needed so that the potential of water resources can be
utilized as well as possible in various aspects of people's lives. One of the emerging
approaches to address the issue of global water scarcity is Water Stewardship.
UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) defines water
stewardship as the use of water that is socially just, environmentally sustainable
and economically beneficial. In this context, this research focuses on PT M, an
automotive company that is part of a large Japan-based company. PT M is one of
the production operational units with increasing water demand as production
capacity grows. The research method focuses on a water vulnerability study, which
is supported by calculations of demand, projections, and water quality indices. The
source of clean water at PT M comes from PDAM water and rainwater utilization
through a rainwater harvesting system. According to the calculation of projected
water demand at PT M, in 2031, the availability of PT M's water resources began
to be unable to meet the total water demand for domestic, non-domestic and
industry. Based on the research results, PT M has water resource vulnerability. The
social vulnerability indicator (SVI) and environmental vulnerability indicator
(EnVI) has the highest contribution of 36.6% to PT M's water vulnerability,
followed by economic factors vulnerability which has the smallest contribution with
a level of 26.8%. Overall, the three factors have a strong influence on PT M's water
resource vulnerability with relatively similar portion ranges. The calculation of the
water quality index shows a result of 82.67 at the Outlet point which is classified
as a good category, at the Upstream and Downstream points, the results show 51.03
and 53.37 respectively which are classified as moderate. Water quality degradation
around PT M is more influenced by the activities of other parties, from domestic
waste discharges and other industries. To prevent and reduce the impact of
vulnerable conditions at PT M, there are several efforts that can be made, including
the use of advanced technology for waste recycling, utilization of treated water from
PT M's WWTP as a raw water source for PDAM, utilization of water bodies around
PT M as an alternative water source, and collaboration with government,
community, industry, and the private sector to create sustainable water governance. |
