Description
Summary:The research area is in Cisolok District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. Geographically the research area is located between UTM 656572 mT – 663531 mT dan 9239438 mU – 9231461 mU (UTM Zone 48 S). The research area is 55 km2 . Geomorphology of the reasearch area is divided into three geomorphological units composed of Intrusion Hills, Pyroclastic Flow Plain, and Pyroclastic Flow Hills Unit. The geomorphic stage in the area is at young to mature stage. Stratigraphycally, the research area is divided into six non-formal rock units which were formed duirng Late Eosen – Recent and deposited in shallow marine and land environment. The rocks unit from older to younger strata are Andesit, Tuff, Limestone, Dacite, Pyroclastic Breccia 1, and Pyroclastic Breccia 2 Unit. Geological structures found in the research area are normal fault and strike-slip fault. Groundwater of the research area is taken from an aquifer that belongs to Pyroclastic Breccia 1. Pyroclastic Breccia 2 and Dacite Unit. Twenty One of groundwaters samples were taken from unconfined aquifer while two samples were taken from a confined aquifer. After physical and chemical parameters analysis, the quality of groundwater for drinking purpose is deemed as not feasible for drinking due to some of the parameters (Fe, Ni, Cr, Pb, Al, F, B, TDS, and temperature) have values that exceed the threshold especially Fe, Ni, Cr, and Pb whose values exceed the threshold on every sample. Geothermal manifestation in the research area is afflicting the surrounding groundwater in small radius by heating the water while also enriching the amount of TDS and monovalent ion. Lead enrichment is also possibly caused by the hydrothermal activity around the research area.
