Summary: | Blasting activity is vital to the continuity of mining operations. The effectiveness of blasting activities can affect the production targets. The fragmentation of rocks is fundamental parameters in blasting operations because this fragmentation will affect the overall mining activity. Therefore, predictions are needed to determine the extent of the fragmentation and the outcome of blasting activity.
The study aims to review the results of the prediction of rock fragmentation using the Kuz-Ram model with actual results in the field using the Split Desktop 4.0 software. Both results produce the difference between the size distribution value (n) and the average fragmentation value (X). From these differences, the corrective factor was sought, which was then applied in the modification of the new Kuz-Ram model.
The results of the study showed that the value of the correction factor in the equation to predict the average size of fragmentation (X) was 0.7126. Additionally, a correction factor value of 0.8563 for the new approach was obtained in determining the diversity index (n). The modified Kuz-Ram model has been validated by actual data with a correlation coefficient value of 0.999. |
