Description
Summary:The never-ending population growth in major cities has led to an increase in the need for accommodation, public spaces, and commercial activities. In big cities like Bandung, this phenomenon is manifested by the proliferation of public spaces that collaborating with creative economy commercial spaces aiming productive age target consumers. One manifestation of this phenomenon is on the skywalk of Teras Cihampelas Bandung. However, the arrival of Teras Cihampelas as a combination of public and commercial spaces has not achieved its function well in aspects of integration, accessibility to existing creative commercial spaces. Walkability Enhancement Strategy and Creative Circle are design methods applied to the Cihampelas Terrace area in responding to issues. The implementation of the Walkability Enhancement Strategy is a strategy to respond to physical issues in aspects of integration and accessibility of skywalks to pedestrian paths. Creative Circle responds to the issue of activities in the aspect of commercial space in the Cihampelas Terrace and Corridor with architectural design solutions. The findings from the collaboration of the Walkability Enhancement Strategy and Creative Circle methods on the two issues mentioned are in the form of design criteria and translated into the big concept of Cihamplace+. Physical issue design criteria include quality improvement: 1) Infrastructure, 2) User Inclusivity & Priority and 3) Activity , translates into +Skywalker integration concept and +Streetwalker accessibility concept. The design criteria for activity issues include architectural design as a solution for Creativity, Public and Commercial Space that is able to collaborate and support creative economic activities: 1) Access &; Linkages, 2) Uses &Activity, and 3) Comfort & Images implemented in the +Circle architectural concept. The +Circle concept consists of 2 designs that have their respective functions 1) Creativity Community Market focuses on the production, commercial and promotion of lokal art creative economy and 2) Creativity Maker Space focuses on digital lokal creative economy. Based on these design criteria and design concepts, it can be concluded that the +Skywalker integration concept is renewable as the main circulation of the Cihampelas corridor pedestrian to Cihampelas Terrace. Then the concept of +Streetwalker accessibility revitalization is targeted as the main catalyst to achieve an inclusive walkability environment. Thus, the architectural concept of +Circle aims as a creative space for actors, connoisseurs, and consumers in the activities of the lokal creative economy ecosystem as the main strategy to improve the Cihampelas area and support Bandung as a creative economy center.
