In today's digital era, document management is essential in various fields of work, encompassing a wide range of document types, such as office documents, journals, agreements, and more. The challenge arises from the sheer number and diversity of documents that need to be organized. To address this, a search engine system tailored to specific needs is necessary. In this thesis, the specific requirement is a document management system for the office domain. A previous system called DOCO 1.0 already exists, but many needs remain unmet, especially concerning document scalability. To create an efficient search engine, Elasticsearch technology is adopted in this thesis. The method involves recognizing patterns in both unstructured and structured documents, referred to as the indexing process. Once documents are categorized, the system can retrieve them based on user input, known as the query process. The system is designed to perform well under various conditions and scales, supported by a capable search engine infrastructure that streamlines data, uses a queue system, and facilitates retrieval processes. During the evaluation, the developed system fulfills all functional and non-functional requirements, making it suitable for the defined office domain problem in this thesis.
