BEHAVIORAL CHANGES ANALYSIS OF TRANSPORTATION USERS IN THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SECTOR DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN BANDUNG

The rapid population growth leading to a significant increase in motor vehicles in the city of Bandung has caused numerous problems, one of which is traffic congestion. The introduction of Trans Metro Bandung (TMB) as a public transportation system offers a potential solution to this issue. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bandung has brought about various changes in the behavior of its residents, including travel patterns. Therefore, it is essential to understand these behavioral changes to make significant improvements in the service standards of TMB. Data required for analysis include changes in mode choice factors of Bandung residents before and after the COVID-19 pandemic and the shift in travel behavior compared to the pre-pandemic situation.The study to determine the factors related to mode choice by the residents was conducted using the Chi-Square Cramer's V analysis method. The data were collected through a purposive sampling questionnaire. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the factors associated with mode choice in Bandung were destination factor (Pr 0.083, Cramer's V 0.2519), total travel time (Pr 0.061, Cramer's V 0.2648), and safety and security (Pr 0.083, Cramer's V 0.2931). No factors were found to be associated when compared to the pre-pandemic situation. To analyze the shift in Bandung transportation users' behavior, a Wilcoxon Test was performed, and it revealed three changed behaviors: waiting/preparing time for mode (Pr (b "I a): 0.0835), daily travel fare (Pr (b "I a): 0.0307), and weekly travel frequency (Pr (b -I a): 0.0898).Based on the above data, there is potential for further improvements in TMB services, including increasing the number of fleet, providing dedicated TMB lanes, offering accurate arrival and departure schedules, and enforcing strict adherence to halt and vehicle standard operating procedures.
