Description
Summary:Peri-urbanization in rapidly growing big cities shows spatial and socio-economic transformations. Physical transformation is marked by converting agricultural land into built-up land, while socio-economic transformation is characterized by population density growth, the economy's shift from the primary sector to the secondary and tertiary sectors, and a decrease in agricultural activity. This research focuses on the process of peri-urbanization in the peri-urban areas of the Bandung and Gowa Regencies. The study of peri-urban areas as transition zones between rural and urban areas is essential because each region has its own characteristics and challenges in the peri-urbanization process. So, this study aims to explain the process of peri-urbanization and transformation of the Peri-urban areas of Bandung and Gowa Regencies. The method used to analyze this research is a mixed method, which includes scoring, descriptive statistics, and spatial analysis. This study's results show differences in the peri-urbanization process that occurs in the peri-urban areas of Bandung and Gowa regencies. Peri-urbanization in Bandung Regency occurred due to government policies in constructing new infrastructure, such as toll roads, which attracted investors to invest in land development, such as housing, industry, and warehouses. Which indirectly has an impact on the socio-economic aspects of the region. The peri-urbanization of Gowa Regency occurred due to the development in the city center, which was relatively rapid, so the development expanded to the peri-urban areas.
