By considering it, in this study we aimed to (1) identify and analyze the potential of this area to be developed as Natural Tourism Attraction Objects (Objek Daya Tarik Wisata Alam - ODTWA); (2) analyze its carrying capacity for mangrove ecosystem ecotourism; (3) analyze the level of influence and interest of stakeholders; and (4) determine the strategy for developing mangrove ecotourism in KJNP. Analysis of the potential for ODTWA was carried out using a modified version of Operating Area Analysis (Analisis Daerah Operasi - ADO) ODTWA guidelines (Director General of Protection Forest and Nature Conservation 2003). The carrying capacity was analyzed using the Area Carrying Capacity concept. The influence and interest level of stakeholders are analyzed using the economic characteristics of the community and the stakeholder grid. The strategy for developing mangrove ecotourism is determined using Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat (SWOT) and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis. The results showed that while it still needs improvements, KJNP mangrove tracking is potential and feasible to be developed as ODTWA with a carrying capacity for mangrove ecotourism of about 104 people/day. Stakeholders related to its management include of KJNP office, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Karimunjawa Tourism Bureau Association, Indonesian Tour Guide Association, Karimunjawa and Kemujan Village Governments, academics, communities, and visitors. 96% of the community agrees to the development of mangrove ecotourism in KJNP proposed by this research are including (1) cooperation among stakeholders in developing facilities, tourist attractions, and promoting mangrove ecotourism; (2) participatory development of mangrove ecotourism based on the potential of ODTWA and its area carrying capacity by involving stakeholders; (3) providing training and certification facilities for the community related to mangrove ecotourism guides; (4) improvement of facilities and infrastructure; (5) packaging of marine and land tourism; (6) creating up to date promotional materials and increasing the intensity of promotions; and (7) assistance from KJNP staff for visitors. text
