This shift is consistent with the rising pace of globalization. Similar to what occurred in Sungai Penuh, regional growth has resulted in many modifications. Particularly in activities in the community, particularly among youths who create a community group in a Locationation packed with creative activities and jointly hold a variety of events, so impacting the value of the neighborhood in which they reside. Lapangan Merdeka is situated in the city's downtown area and is often utilized by the community for events. Nevertheless, the community does not get enough facilities, since no structures are permitted to be constructed on Lapangan Merdeka because of regulations On the other side of Lapangan Merdeka, the Locational government owns both a vacant piece of land and an abandoned old retail building. The requirement for facilities to support current activities in Lapangan Merdeka may employ vacant land, however the Locationation of the land in this strategic Locationation must be utilized maximally in accordance with the land's economic value. In this case, the role of Placemaking to enhance community presence in non-optimal public space utilization is considered suitable. The presence of a facilities program that can accommodate events may entice people to visit, allowing for the eventual reconstruction of the old retail buildings and the revitalization of the neighborhood across from Lapangan Merdeka. With this approach to Placemaking, in addition to programming and creating user-friendly buildings, a progressive design strategy is used so that the planned facilities may produce an economic circle and be sustainable. On vacant land and an old retail building in the Sungai Penuh, this design thesis proposes a Community Center and Commercial Facility design. The design constructed in the first phase is intended as a Community Center program related to the Lapangan Merdeka. The Community Center's development started with the construction of one floor and a bridge connecting to Lapangan Merdeka. Once, the Community Center is successful in drawing visitors, the next phase of development entails constructing a one floor commercial facility structure on the site of the old retail building. This is done in order to create an economic cycle for the construction of the next phase of the Community Center. Once this facility gets overcrowded, both the Community Center and Commercial Facility are constructed vertically. text |

On the other side of Lapangan Merdeka, the Locational government owns both a vacant piece of land and an abandoned old retail building. The requirement for facilities to support current activities in Lapangan Merdeka may employ vacant land, however the Locationation of the land in this strategic Locationation must be utilized maximally in accordance with the land's economic value.
