This research objective is to improve the overall outpatient LOS in pediatric department by making LOS visit that takes less than 2 hours is the majority of the cases (>50%). This research using both quantitative and qualitative data to assess the overall business operation process. The quantitative data which is the patient time recorded for each processes is analyzed using Control Chart and T-Test. The qualitative data which came from interviews and XYZ Hospital’s standard operational procedure (SOP) is analyzed using Business Process Modelling and Notation (BPMN) and Value Added Analysis. The outcome of this research is to advise which process need to be eliminated/substituted/automated and recommend new operational time recommendation for each process to improve overall pediatric outpatient LOS. To making the outpatient LOS that is less than 2 hours the majority of all outpatient LOS, the hospital management need to ensure that the process that is consist of outpatient waiting time (OWT), doctor’s examination, and billing process does not exceed 58 minutes. This research also suggest that time allocation for pharmacy department give the prescribed drugs does not exceed 28 minutes. This research also assess each process in the outpatient journey that need to be eliminated/substituted/automated to decrease outpatient LOS in pediatric department because it is considered non-value added. text
