Description
Summary:PT X is a company that produces specialty chemicals. PT X's products are utilized by its customers engaged in the water treatment, sugar processing, petroleum, mining and automotive sectors. In carrying out its production, PT X applies a make-to-order (MTO) system, which is a production system in which work on orders does not begin until the order is in the hands of the company. It is known that the value of PT X's order completion rate is 89%, while the target set is 95%. The reason for not achieving this target was that PT X did not know the information on its production capacity yet. Therefore, the research aims to obtain a useful information system prototype to determine the adequacy of PT X's production capacity. In designing the information system, the prototyping method was used. The RCCP technique used as the basis for calculating capacity is the Bill of Labor Approach (BOL). The use of the BOL technique in processing PT X's production data is useful for producing a comparison of available capacity with the capacity required by PT X to fulfill orders so that it can evaluate PT X's production capacity. The research resulted in a prototype of Microsoft Excel-VBA software. The trial design of this prototype shows that the actual production capacity at PT X cannot meet the demand for orders in accordance with the production plan. This means that a further step is needed in the form of a revision of the production plan to balance needs with the availability of PT X's capacity. In accordance with PT X's production characteristics, the revision is proposed by developing an order-accepting decision-making system that can provide optimal decisions on accepting or rejecting orders.
