Summary: | Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is one of adolescents' most common maladaptive
behaviors. Adolescents who are in transition from childhood to adulthood are very
vulnerable to pressure from the surrounding environment. If they do not have good
emotional regulation abilities, adolescents are very vulnerable to falling into unhealthy
coping strategies, one of which is intentionally injuring themselves. To educate and help
adolescents not to depend on this high-risk behavior, the authors designed an educational
book as a medium that can convey information and understanding about NSSI. The design
begins with collecting data through literature studies and expert interviews to obtain the
book's contents and distributing questionnaires to the target audience to obtain
adolescent age visual preferences. All data collected is then analyzed and used as the basis
for the design concept in the form of presenting information in a descriptive manner,
packed with elements of illustration and photography that are calm, hopeful, and
intimate, as well as some content that can be filled in directly by readers to build self-care
habits (self-care). care). The design concept was created with the aim of providing readers
with a sense of security, and comfort and establishing a close relationship with
themselves and the closest and most trusted people. The conclusion of this design is a
source of information that is packaged in an interesting way to add insight and help
readers, especially those who have stories of self-harm behavior. |
