Along with the development of computer graphic technology and digital camera, the reconstruction of an object to be 3D solid model could be done easily.
In this research, digital photogammetry technique is used to 3D reconstruction of an object. It is a method to determine three-dimensional coordinate of one point or more by processing 2D digital photographs of those points taken from several point of view. Digital model of a surface of an object can be reconstructed using this technique. The advantages of this technique are very wide, such as for reverse engineering, metrology, accidental reconstruction, etc.
3D reconstruction is divided into several steps. First, the surface of an object is marked with circular points that represent the object's profile. After that, the image of object's surface is taken by using those cameras from several points of view. Those digital photographs are processed in Photomodeler results space coordinate can be determined. Notice that the cameras have to be calibrated before the process is started.
In this research, the influences of parameters on reconstruction's result of the objects are analyzed. Those parameters are focus length, marker density, view angle of photograph, quantity of processed digital photograph, color of digital photograph, usage of flash light, camera resolution, distance between camera and object, and lens magnification. The objects for this research are box and cylinder. Analysis shows that error of the reconstructions which have been obtained by both SLR and autofocus camera are small compared to the original object, just under 1%.
Also in this work, a 3D reconstruction is also conducted for the center wing of CN-235. In this reconstruction process, several digital photographs are processed simultaneously to determine wing surface's point clouds. After that, by using CAD software, three-dimensional model of wing surface is created. The model, afterward, is compared with 3 meters chord of NACA 65-3-218 profile. The result shows that maximum deviation of the reconstruction result is 11 millimeters or 0.0035 times of the object size. text
