The Covid-19 pandemic has had a very pronounced impact on the economy, the number of informal workers has increased by 5 percent to 60.88 percent, and the unemployment rate has been at its highest point for the past 10 years, reaching 7.07 percent, all of this is a domino effect from Covid-19. Some business actors or informal workers use the Internet to carry out promotions to survive or increase income in crisis conditions. In this era of digitalization, internet technology penetration has reached many regions, internet users in Indonesia reach 73.7 percent of the total population, so the government must provide understanding to its people to be able to adopt Internet technology to increase the income of low-income people. This study aims to identify the effect of internet use on increasing the income of informal workers in Indonesia using a quantitative approach. The data used is pooled cross-section sourced from the results of the 2020-2021 National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) conducted by BPS. Processing method using Heckman Selection Model to find out how many effects the internet has on the income of informal workers and using Blinder- Oaxaca Decomposition to find out how big the income inequality of these informal workers is. The results obtained by using the internet significantly affect the income of informal workers. Income inequality between genders is not too significant, only 0.4 percentage points greater for men than women. text |
