Summary: | Speeding accidents often occur on toll roads in Indonesia. One of the efforts that
can be made to reduce such accidents is to install Speed Reduction Markings.
This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Speed Reduction Markers located
on the Cikampek - Palimanan Toll Road, lane a KM 150 + 300 and lane b KM
150 + 800 and analyze the perception and behavior of road users towards these
markings.
The results of the analysis showed that at the location of the markings at KM
150+300 there was a decrease in the average speed of vehicles by 9% and a
decrease in the speed of 85-percentile vehicles by 11%. Meanwhile, at the
location of the marker at KM 150+800 there was a decrease in the average speed
of vehicles by 13% and a decrease in the speed of 85-percentile vehicles by 11%.
These results are supported by t-test results for paired samples and one-way
ANOVA test results which show that the speed decrease is significant at a 95%
confidence level.
The results of the effectiveness test using the N-Gain Score method showed that
the speed reduction mark had moderate effectiveness in reducing the average
speed of the vehicle, this was based on the N-Gain Score of 36.2% and 34.1% for
the location of the markings at KM 150 + 300 and KM 150 + 800. Meanwhile, the
mark has moderate effectiveness in reducing the speed of 85-percentile vehicles at
the marking location at KM 150+300, but has low effectiveness in reducing the
speed of 85-percentile vehicles at the marking location at KM 150+800. This is
based on N-Gain Scores of 30.6% and 25.0% for marker locations at KM
150+300 and KM 150+800.
Furthermore, the results of analysis of individual vehicle speeds before and when
crossing speed reduction markings showed that 81% of vehicles decreased their
speed, 12% of vehicles increased their speed, and the remaining 7% maintained
their vehicle speed when crossing the marking. In addition, 32% of vehicles
change lanes to avoid these markings. These results are in line with the results of
a survey of road users' perceptions of speed reduction markings, where the
majority of 59% of respondents stated that the markings were effective in
reducing vehicle speed. |
