This has led to high intensity of human activities such as mining, oil and gas drilling for exploration needs, construction of public facilities, and groundwater extraction. The high intensity of human activity is one of the factors causing land subsidence in Java. This research is focused on understanding the patterns of land subsidence and identifying the potential factors that contribute to land subsidence in a particular area. The method used in this research is spatial kriging analysis to determine the pattern of land subsidence from observation data and overlay method for each potential factor to determine how many factors can affect land subsidence in a particular area in Java. The results of this research are maps of the pattern of land subsidence and potential factors causing land subsidence in Java. The results show that Java Island is generally experiencing land subsidence with the highest rate occurring in the city of Pekalongan at 10 cm/year. The overlay analysis of the potential factors causing land subsidence shows that a region in Java has two deformation factors, with different factors in each area. The purpose of this research is to provide mitigation for disasters, especially the impact of land subsidence, and to be a consideration for public facilities, industry, and housing development sectors. text
