Description
Summary:Trauma is caused by events that are threatening and dangerous, both psychologically and physically. There are various causes of trauma, one of which is trauma originating from a mother. This writing discusses the trauma stemming from a mother, specifically as it relates to the author. In Indonesia, issues related to family dynamics often remain closed and taboo to discuss. Lingering, enduring, and suppressed trauma can lead to depression manifesting as auditory hallucinations; memories or past experiences may reappear repeatedly, as the author has undergone. Artworks frequently serve as a means to express traumatic experiences and as a medium for reflection and contemplation of that trauma. The process of creating art can aid in confronting, reflecting upon and finding peace with the existing trauma, simultaneously feelings and emotions through the artwork. Embedded trauma becomes a soruce of inspiration and impetus for creativity. The author adresses taboo issues through their work, utilizing lenticular printing with the technique of optical illusion, enabling the transformation of images through changes in perspective. The use of a red-colored circular symbol covering the face is also employed. The author’s representation aims to display a spectrum that reveals and depicts the memories of the experienced trauma, and thi is an apt way to express the taboo issue.
