This technology can be used for remote health care as well as for people who have allergic conditions and cannot use conventional medical devices. This study uses a frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar with data sourced from public datasets and self-collected data. In the public dataset, data collection was done on 50 children under 13 years old using 60 gigahertz (GHz) radar. For self-collected data, we used a 77 GHz radar on five subjects in healthy and normal conditions aged 25–29 years and varied the type of breathing and the distance of the radar to the subject. We propose an algorithm based on impulse noise removal and a Kalman filter to measure respiratory rate (RR) and heart rate (HR). To validate the accuracy of RR and HR, we used reference sensors, namely, BiTalino and Polar. The results showed that the mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean squared error (RMSE) values for RR detection on the public dataset are 2,63 and 3,39, respectively, while for self- collected data they are 1,98 and 2,42. For HR detection results, they are 11,83 and 13,87 for the public dataset, while for self-collected data, they are 10,50 and 12,27, respectively text
