INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/76221 Stress is the body's reaction to changes in situations, conditions, or thoughts that cause frustration, anger, nervousness, and anxiety. The highest cause of stress perceived by undergraduate students at ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology) comes from academic factors (23.3%), which are attempted to be reduced through Bimbingan Konseling, where students have difficulty obtaining counseling schedules, leading to accumulated stress. A total of 58.6% of ITB students enjoy activities such as observing nature while listening to calm sounds as an alternative to reducing stress, but academic busyness hinders these activities. Virtual Reality, as a development of digital tools that can display a 3D environment, is capable of providing relaxation effects to reduce stress. The provision of multi-stimulus in virtual reality can make a person feel immersed. The provision of audio stimulus also influences a person to think calmly, where tempo plays a more sensitive role in emotional responses. There are many gaps in research related to multi-stimulus in VR, thus an evaluation of the influence of different audio tempos on VR HMD (Head-Mounted Display) is needed to reduce the level of student stress. This study involved nine undergraduate students from ITB using a within-subject experimental design, where all participants received visual treatment in the form of natural environments from NatureTreksVR and audio with slow, normal, and fast tempos. The experiment began with the administration of a stressor task performed by the participants, and their stress levels were measured. Then, the participants used VR HMD to explore NatureTreksVR with one of the predetermined audio tempos, and their stress levels were measured. The measurement of stress levels was done subjectively using the State-Trait Anxiety Test (STAI-S) and objectively using Heart Rate Variability (HRV). Additionally, the level of presence, immersion, and average response time of each participant were measured using the Presence Questionnaire (PQ), Immersive Experience Questionnaire (IEQ), and Average Response Time from the Stroop Task. Data processing for the experiment was performed using Shapiro-Wilk, ANOVA, Friedman, paired T-tests, and Wilcoxon tests. VR HMD with audiovisual stimuli was found to have a significant impact on reducing student stress levels. Subjectively, there was a decrease in STAI-S scores, and objectively, significant differences were found when using VR for 5 minutes in parameters such as Mean RR, SDNN, Mean HR, RMSSD, and HF. In terms of performance, there was an improvement in average response time after using VR. The difference in audio tempo in VR HMD was found to have a significant impact on reducing student stress levels. Subjectively, there were no significant differences between audio tempos. Objectively, significant differences were found in the slow tempo, as indicated by changes in Mean RR, Mean HR, RMSSD, and HF values. In terms of performance, there were no significant differences between audio tempos text
