Summary: | The Gedung Filateli Jakarta is one of the heritage buildings in Jakarta which is now
functioning as a creative public space through a placemaking process. The renewal of
the function of The Gedung Filateli which now accommodates creative economic
activities is obtained through the implementation of adaptive reuse in its placemaking.
Adaptive reuse as one of the efforts that can be used in revitalizing heritage buildings,
can be implemented in the placemaking of heritage buildings in order to maximize the
function of buildings and present quality creative public spaces for the community. As
a creative public space, apart from providing facilities the The Gedung Filateli
accommodates a variety of creative economy-oriented activity programs ranging from
talk shows, fashion shows, exhibitions of local products, and music performances.
The diversity of these activity programs gave rise to variations in interventions on the
elements that make up the space: walls, floors, ceilings, as well as layout, furniture,
color and lighting. So this study aims to identify interventions on what elements have
an impact on visitor perceptions while participating in an activity program on
placemaking in the great hall area of the The Gedung Filateli. This study focuses on
observing the intervening relations of space-forming elements in the Sapto
Djokokartiko fashion show program, Lazada Talkshow and the Vans Skate Lava
product exhibition on visitor perceptions.
The research begins with conducting a literature study, interviews with expert
informants and observations at The Gedung Filateli where the findings at this stage
will be analyzed and also used to compile a questionnaire instrument that will be used
in the quantitative method. The stages of the quantitative method were carried out to
determine visitor perceptions regarding interventions on space-forming elements in the
placemaking of the The Gedung Filateli Jakarta.
Based on research that has been conducted on the three selected placemaking
programs, it can be concluded that the intervention on light and color elements is the
most significant intervention among the other seven elements. This research reminds
that one of the efforts to preserve the existence of heritage buildings in the midst of
modern life can be through presenting new functions that support the current needs of
society |
