The environment is one of the factors that influence anxiety in pregnant women. It is known that the interior of the inpatient room is the patient's closest environment during labor and postpartum, the hospital needs to present a healing environment in the treatment process in order to provide comfort both psychologically and physiologically to the patient. A healing environment can be implemented through a biophilic design concept that is believed to be able to influence lower pain, anxiety, and fatigue levels and accelerate patient healing. This is an important concern in inpatient rooms to reduce the anxiety level experienced by pre and postnatal pregnant women. This study aims to identify the effect of biophilic design visuals in the maternity inpatient room on the anxiety level of pregnant women and to identify the application of the biophilic design that has the most effect on the anxiety level of pregnant women and is suitable for the maternity inpatient room. This research was conducted through a simulative experiment by changing the visual stimulus of the inpatient room of the case study hospital in Bandung with one control room and six types of stimulus rooms with different biophilic design elements. Space simulation is presented with virtual reality digital media so physiologically respondents can feel the stimulus directly even though they are in virtual space. The experiment was conducted on 30 respondents with a background of experiencing their first normal birth process within one month to the last six months, domiciled in the city of Bandung with the ideal age category (20-34 years). The collection of quantitative experimental data was carried out through questionnaires. The data analysis method in this study used descriptive analysis and One-way ANOVA statistical tests to determine the difference in effect between the indicator variables, and the Post Hoc Test to determine comparisons between the conditions tested. The results of this study indicate that the biophilic design has a significant positive effect on the anxiety of pregnant women when applied in the maternity inpatient room. This study also shows the results that natural landscape elements have the most positive influence on the anxiety of pregnant women. This research is expected to be a reference for designing inpatient rooms by considering the use of biophilic designs and their psychological effects on the anxiety of pregnant women. text
