One of the plants located in PT X is Hot Strip Mill (HSM), which produces hot rolled coil, sheet, and plate products. In this plant, there is Roll & Bearing Preparation Department that is tasked with preparing rolls for the production process in the HSM plant. The work performed in this department involves human labor with awkward postures for a long period of time and repetitive physical activities. This can lead to the development of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) symptoms among workers. Therefore, this study aims to design ergonomic interventions to reduce the potential ergonomic hazards in the Roll & Bearing Preparation Department workers. This research is conducted based on SNI 9011:2021 to measure and evaluate potential ergonomic hazards in the workplace. Five different positions are studied, including upper pulpit CNC machine operator, movable car operator, lower pulpit CNC machine operator, manual grinding machine operator, and planner. The findings of this study are first, there are plenty of potential ergonomic hazards among these positions. Second, it was found that age, work tenure, smoking, sleep duration in a day, perceived physical fatigue, and workstation were significantly associated with the risk level of MSDs symptoms in different body regions. From the results of the analysis of potential ergonomic hazards and factors affecting the risk level of MSDs symptoms, proposed ergonomic interventions were designed in the form of improved workstation design and administrative controls. Workstation design improvements are carried out based on workers’ anthropometry and the principles of workstation design as well as work design. The results of workstation design improvements were able to reduce the potential ergonomic hazards in the workers, with a total risk score before intervention ranging from 3-12 and a total risk score after intervention ranging from 1-2. text
