There are related trends in fashion and furniture, such as the retro trend which has reappeared with increasing thrifting activities among Generation Z who are fast following the times. With this connection, research was conducted on the influence of retro fashion trends for Generation Z in Surabaya and the relationship between the preference and character of Generation Z with retro fashion towards the design of the chairs in the cafes visited. The study was conducted to identify retro fashion trends that are applied to retro café chair designs in Surabaya, understand the meaning of Generation Z towards café chair designs that are influenced by retro fashion trends, and find the loyalty that is created from the nostalgic character of Generation Z Surabaya consumers towards a café with the relationship between chair design and retro fashion trends. The research is qualitative in nature, with the process of collecting data using surveys, questionnaires, and interviews with informants. The research survey took place at two retro-themed cafes in Surabaya, namely Jengki Café and Bistro and Carpentier Kitchen. The variables analyzed are retro trends in chair design in both cafes, retro fashion and furniture trends in Generation Z in Surabaya, and Generation Z's loyalty to retro cafes in Surabaya. Triangulation analysis was performed to analyze the collected data. It was found that the retro fashion trend towards chair design can answer needs related to the nostalgic interest of Generation Z consumers in Surabaya, furniture designs specifically chairs tend to have similarities with fashion trends which lie in the material, color, and motifs of the chairs. It is concluded that the fashion character of Generation Z Surabaya consumers can create loyalty to the researched café. text |
