The term philately was relatively popular in the 20th century, considering that long-distance communication was still carried out by correspondence. However, advances in communication systems made it easier and faster at the end of the 20th century made correspondence less and less. This resulted in the decline of sending letters using postage and the popularity of philately. In fact, many of the current young generation are not familiar with the term philately, even though philately is an important part in the development of Indonesian history. This research aims to introduce philately to the younger generation and help them learn about philately in an interesting and educative way. This research takes a case study at Pos Bloc Jakarta, a public creative space as well as a cultural heritage building at the "Gedung Filateli Jakarta" owned by PT. Pos Indonesia. The method used in this study is qualitative by collecting data through literature studies, observation, and interviews, as well as a design exploration. The product, a series of interactive installations in the form of a philately-themed escape room, is expected to help the young generation learn about philately and increase their interest in Indonesian philately. text |
