Several species of this genus produce an edible fruits, and some of which are used as traditional medicine. Moraceae known as a source of phenolic compounds especially prenylated flavonoids. Previous study on Artocarpus rotunda afforded some highly bioactive compounds such as artonin E, so that a further investigation on this species will be more interesting. Using several chromatographic methods three prenylated flavonoids have been isolated. From UV-Vis, IR, and NMR spectra these compounds have been identified as artoindonesianin L, artobiloxanthone, and cycloartobiloxanthone. These three compounds exhibit very strong cytotoxicity against murine leukemia P388 cells with IC50 0.6, 1.75, and 4.6 μg/mL respectively. text
