Summary: | COVID-19 cases continue to increase around the world reaching 768 million cases on July 19, 2023.
Several types of antivirals and antibiotics have become options in the treatment of COVID-19. But
apart of considering the efficacy, the safety of their use must also be considered. ADRs can increase
morbidity and mortality rates, increase healthcare costs, and prolong hospital stays. This study aims
to determine the profile adverse drug reaction (ADR) in COVID-19 patients at RS Paru Dr. H. A.
Rotinsulu Bandung and determine the causality and severity of the ADR. This study was conducted
using an observasional method and cross-sectional with retrospective design. A total of 120 patients
were analyzed in the study, 61% patients were identified ADR with 104 incidents. The most common
ADRs are liver systems disorders (48%) and gastrointestinal disorders (24%). Most of ADRs were
caused by Favipiravir (34%) and Remdesivir (33%). ADR that occurs has a causality of 59% is
“probable” and 41% is “possible”, while the severity of ADRs that occurs is 42% “mild” and 58%
“moderate”. The results of the correlation test showed that theres was a relationship between
gender and length of treatment with ADRs (p<0,05) statistically significant. It can be interpreted
that antiviral and antibiotic therapy in COVID-19 causes the most common ADRs are liver systems
disorders and gastrointestinal disorders, and the causality is predominately possible with moderate
severity.
