OPTIMIZATION OF INVENTORY IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT OF MULTI-ITEM AND MULTI-SUPPLIER SYSTEM WITH BACKORDER
Supply chain management is a continuously evolving field in the context of modern and competitive business, including in Indonesia. It is crucial for companies to optimize their supply chain management to face complex challenges, including multi-item and multi-supplier aspects. Poor inventory manage...

It is crucial for companies to optimize their supply chain management to face complex challenges, including multi-item and multi-supplier aspects. Poor inventory management situations are still commonly found in the surrounding society. In this context, optimization is the key to achieving efficiency and maximum performance. This final project aims to apply mathematical approaches to optimize inventory management in the supply chain of manufacturing companies, considering a multi-sourcing system to maximize the benefits obtained. In a multi-sourcing system, there will be more than one supplier, so the model in this study will also focus on the supplier selection problem. The research also assumes that backorder scenarios are allowed. A mathematical model will be developed to analyse various factors that influence supply chain performance, efficiency, and operational costs of the company, while identifying optimal solutions. The research will be conducted through the analysis of mathematical models and computational experiments on a numerical example. Variables such as inventory capacity, order quantity, number of suppliers, product quality, penalties, risks, and other aspects will be mathematically modelled to achieve optimal solutions. Through mathematical analysis and computational experiments, the research will yield results in the form of decision variables that provide optimal outcomes. The author's expectation through this research is to contribute by providing illustrative mathematical model solutions for inventory optimization problems that can be further developed and adapted for different types of supply chain situations. text |
