According to the 2009-2029 Regional Spatial Plan of Pekalongan, this area has been designated to support Pekalongan's function as a creative city and cultural preservation hub, thereby being bestowed with the status of a heritage landmark of Pekalongan and an iconic cultural symbol of the city. Known for its artistic and cultural significance, the Jetayu Area holds potential for tourism, contributing to the advancement of knowledge, creativity, and local revenue. Being a designated cultural heritage site, it houses a plethora of culturally significant buildings. However, over time, the area's vitality and quality have declined due to its underutilization and lack of activity. Therefore, the revitalization of the Jetayu Area, utilizing an urban tourism approach, has been chosen to transform it into a vibrant and attractive destination.
This study aims to formulate design concepts for the Jetayu Area, employing an urban tourism approach to address the issues of its declining vitality and quality. The design methodology utilized is the fragmental method, encompassing a 15.78-hectare design area that accommodates diverse tourism activities and facilities. The design simulation focuses on urban design elements and urban tourism features, namely: activities, identity, circulation, and open spaces. The envisioned outcome is to establish the Jetayu Area as an active tourist destination, characterized by vibrant activities and sustainable public pathways, aimed at raising awareness of local cultural heritage and strengthening the local economy.
