Summary: | Clean water is a crucial aspect of daily life. The demand for water is increasing
along with the increasing population. Malang City was chosen as the study location
due to its background as a tourist and educational city. The population of Malang
City increased by 0.13% compared to 2021. In addition, Malang City has a fairly
high PDAM coverage of 94.58% and ranks 3rd on a national scale. In addition,
Malang City is threatened with clean water shortages because it has no private
water sources, polluted rivers, and declining green open spaces. Therefore, a study
of drinking water needs in Malang City is needed to determine water needs,
influential factors, community behavior to overcome water continuity and
fluctuations. This study used the method of distributing questionnaires online and
offline distributed by simple random sampling then processed using Microsoft
Excel and analyzed using SPSS 25. The number of respondents obtained was 453
people with the need for drinking water in Malang City amounting to 167,93 liters
/ person / day. This result is outside the range of large cities based on SNI 168.1:
2015 which is 100-150 liters/person/day. This result shows that the standard is not
relevant to the water demand in Malang City. The factors that influence the
community in consuming water are the level of education, economy, number of
family members, chemical parameters, and continuity. Analysis of the answers to
community solutions to overcome continuity consists of using reservoirs, wells /
springs, collecting in bathtubs, and a combination of reservoirs and wells / springs.
Fluctuations in water usage in Malang City have peak hours at 06.00 and 18.00
with a peak hour factor of 1,1. |
