ON PROPERTIES OF NUMERICAL RANGE OVER COMPLEX AND FINITE FIELDS

Numerical range of a matrix A ? Cn×n, denoted byW(A), is the set of all elements in the form x?Ax where ||x|| = 1. In 2016, Coons et. al. defined a generalization of numerical range over finite fields and gave some properties of 2×2 numerical range in the finite field. In this expository thesis,...

Description
Summary:Numerical range of a matrix A ? Cn×n, denoted byW(A), is the set of all elements in the form x?Ax where ||x|| = 1. In 2016, Coons et. al. defined a generalization of numerical range over finite fields and gave some properties of 2×2 numerical range in the finite field. In this expository thesis, the properties of numerical range of matrices with components in complex field or finite fields will be explored. We will analyze properties of numerical range in complex field and consider the analogues of given properties in the setting of finite fields.
