Indonesia is one of the producers of asphalt, namely Buton asphalt which is in Sulawesi. The availability of petroleum asphalt is dwindling so that other alternatives are needed to replace it. One alternative is bioasphalt. Bioasphalt is bio-oil from the pyrolysis of biomass that has been evaporated. The evaporated bio-oil liquid is similar to asphalt in general. This study aims to determine the characteristics of bioasphalt from empty palm oil bunches, the effect of pyrolysis temperature on the amount of bio-crude-oil produced and the effect of temperature and pressure on distillation on the mass of bioasphalt obtained. Variations in the research on pyrolysis temperatures were 300°C, 400°C, and 500°C and variations in the bio-oil distillation were temperatures of 70°C-90°C at pressures of 40-50 kPa. The average yield of pyrolysis products is bio-oil 11.60%; char 31.75% and the rest gas 56.65%, the viscosity value of bio-oil is 0.007-0.045 cP, the density value of bio-oil is 1.15-1.22 g/ml while for bioasphalt the highest viscosity value is 4099 Cp and based on the FTIR test results, bioasphalt has functional groups similar to asphaltene such as the presence of C-H stretch, C-H bend, C-H alkenes, C-H aromatic rings, and C=C aromatic rings text
