According to Konya & Walters (1990), the energy generated from blasting can be categorized into two types, work energy and waste energy. Work energy is the energy that is transmitted into the rock mass to break and fragment the rocks. Waste energy, on the other hand, refers to the energy that is dissipated and caused some negative effects such as ground vibration. In this study, ground vibration data was collected using Instantel Minimate. Using the USBM PPV equation, it was found that at the same scaled distance, the PPV value consistently increases with the increase in the explosive column charge. Therefore, it can be concluded that a larger explosive column charge will result in the greater ground vibration. The fragmentation data resulting from the blasting activities was processed using digital image analysis with Split Engineering Split Desktop 4.0 software. It is found that the larger column charge used tends to produce the smaller distribution fragment sizes. The average fragment size was obtained from X50 Split Desktop 4.0. The research findings that increasing the length of the column charge will result in smaller average fragment size. text
