Description
Summary:ABSTRACT:

In this study a separation process of phenolic compound and their derivates from waste of a mixture of wood tar and sulphated process of pulp-paper industry (black liquor) had been conducted using isothermal vacum distillation.

The optimum codintion of the wood tar distillation was obtained at 90 degree C, at a pH of 2 with a distillation time of 4.5 haurs. pH of the solution was adjusted by using sulphuric acid solution. At this condition, the distillate resulted showed a yield of 84.8%, with a pH of 5.59 and the total of phenol content of 0.89 X (b/v). The optimum condition of sulphated process of black liquor was obtained at 105 degree C, at a pH of 2 with a distillation time of 4.5 hours. In this condition the distillate resulted showed a yield of 89.4% whit a pH of 6.82 and the total of phenol content of 0.76 Y. (b/v). The distillate produced from the two types of these samples are used for manufacturing of phenol formaldehyde glue. The distillate produced from the mixture of wood tar gave a red-viscous glue liquid with a pH of 8.6. Characteristic of the plywood that are using phenol formaldehyde glue produced from the mixture of wood tar are moisture content ranging from 7.25 to 9.83 y, its dencity are from 0.5639 to 0.6407 g/Cm3 and bond strength ranging from 4.993 to 11.829 Kg/Cm2.

While the distillate produced from the black liquor gave a pink-viscous glue liquid with a pH of 9.3. Characteristic of the plywood that are using phenol formaldehyde glue produced from the black liquor are moisture content ranging from 8.2 to 12.87%, dencity ranging from 0.5492 to 0.6205 g/Cm3 and bond strength ranging from 3.066 to 9.632 Kg/Cm2.
