INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/76674 Electrical energy is a source of human needs in everyday life. With the depletion of fossil energy, nuclear energy is one of the solutions to address the ever-increasing need for electrical energy sources. One type of nuclear reactor is the NuScale Small Modular Reactor, which is a generation III+ reactor with a thermal power of 150 MWth. In this final project, we will discuss the effect of ThO2 concentration to the NuScale SMR reactor using ThO2-UO2 fuel. The purpose of this study was to determine the effective multiplication factor, reactivity, and conversion ratio with variations in U-235 enrichment and ThO2 variations and to determine fuel optimization in the NuScale SMR for each type of fuel used during the reactor's operation, which is 10 years. Neutronic analysis was performed using the SRAC 2006 code with ENDF/B VII.0 library data. Based on the simulation results, the larger the U-235 enrichment used, the larger the k-eff and reactivity values, while the smaller the conversion ratio, and the larger the ThO2 concentration used, the smaller the k-eff and reactivity values, while the larger the conversion ratio. In addition, a critical reactor (k-eff ? 1) was obtained for 10 years with the enrichment of U-235 of 1.8% for UO2 fuel and an enrichment of U-235 of 3% with a ThO2 of 30% for ThO2-UO2 fuel. For this research, UO2 is more recommended for NuScale reactor than ThO2-UO2 text |

Electrical energy is a source of human needs in everyday life. With the depletion of
fossil energy, nuclear energy is one of the solutions to address the ever-increasing
need for electrical energy sources. One type of nuclear reactor is the NuScale Small
