Description
Summary:L. L. R. E. Martadinata Street, formerly known as Riouwstraat, is one of the areas that has been developed since the colonial era of Dutch East Indies. This street is part of the European Business District project and was used as a residential area. Over time, the function of L. L. R. E. Martadinata Street has changed into a center for services and commerce. To adapt to this change, the heritage residential buildings from the Dutch East Indies period have undergone significant architectural changes, particularly in the façade of the buildings. To preserve L. L. R. E. Martadinata Street as a heritage area, it is necessary to identify the values contained within it, especially architectural values related to the character of L. L. R. E. Martadinata Street. This research is conducted by analyzing the symmetrical and asymmetrical principles of Dutch East Indies buildings on L. L. R. E. Martadinata Street. From this analysis, conclusions are drawn about the character of L. L. R. E. Martadinata, which is reflected in the roof shape, material configuration on walls, setbacks, and additional elements on the façade. The research aims to provide recommendations for the preservation of historical areas, especially Jl. L. L. R. E. Martadinata or other similar areas.
