Description
Summary:Included in the top ten potential areas for the M 8.7 megathrust tsunami on the south coast of East Java using PusGen 2017 modeling, Tambak Rejo Village also has experience of high wave events due to the impact of the Banyuwangi tsunami in 1994. With the current development of the village through the addition of population, the construction of various supporting infrastructures, and the beginning of the recognition of Tambakrejo Beach as a local non-tangible tourism location, causing concern about increasing the condition of the region's vulnerability to tsunami disasters. On the other hand, although the occurrence of a tsunami disaster cannot be known when it will come, but to minimize the occurrence of human casualties, maintaining a high level of community preparedness for tsunami disasters is an important thing to do. In disaster management, it is proven that increasing social vulnerability in communities is an important point in reducing casualties due to tsunami disasters, especially for communities living in coastal areas. By using a purposive sampling method in selecting respondents, this study was conducted to measure the level of community preparedness using the LIPI-UNESCO/ISDR 2006 parameters, and then analyze the phenomena that result in such preparedness in terms of risk perception and preventive behavior. The results of the analysis show that the people of Tambak Rejo Village have a high level of tsunami disaster preparedness which is confirmed in the perception of risk and preventive behavior carried out by the community, so that it becomes a phenomenon of community preparedness for disasters that are not affected by the existence of disaster planning constraints in the village.
