Their characteristic were according to the request of passengers to board and alight anywhere. Since angkot taken the same road way with the other road users, it frequently causes delay and danger to other road users. The main objectives of this thesis were to develop a mathematical model that represents effect of providing designated stopping places for angkot on their operational performance and their passengers. Further, use the model to determine the optimum spacing stopping places on desirable condition based on passenger travel time. For this research a particular site of Surapati street with 865 meter length has been choosen as a study area. The travel time of angkot and passengers were used to quantify effect of providing designated stopping places on angkot and their passengers. The components of angkot travel time comprise of running time, passengers boarding & alighting time, and accelerate & decelerate time. While, the components of passengers travel time were walking time, waiting time, and in-angkot travel time. The models also consider the probability that a given stop of angkot was made at each stopping place. The values of this probability distribution achieved from field observation data. In order to calibrate the developed models, the 16 different conditions with four different routes, peak and off peak conditions, and two different directions were studied. It was found from the analysis that angkot travel time decreases when spacing stopping places increases, while the relationship between the passenger travel time and spacing stopping places represents the concave curve. When the passengers travel time minimum, the spacing stopping places would be the optimum. From the analysis, the optimum spacing stopping places for 16 conditions of the models were variate in 133 - 159 meter. For practical purpose the result range of spacing in 118 - 178 meter was the optimum spacing stopping places for all routes and conditions in Surapati text
