Summary:Magnetotelluric is a passive method that utilizes electromagnetic waves under the earth's surface to map the distribution of resistivity values under the earth's surface by measuring electric and magnetic fields. The data generated in the form of variations in electric and magnetic fields will be used to obtain a model of the resistivity structure below the earth's surface. Modeling of the two-dimensional magnetotecuric resistivity structure was carried out using the finite element method which is based on the variational principle. The result of this modeling is the response in the form of apparent resistivity and phase impedance. The finite element method has the advantage of being able to represent the topography more smoothly when compared to the finite difference method. The finite difference method can lead to inaccurate solutions due to geometric limitations. The results of this final project are in the form of program validation using homogeneous earth models, layered earth, vertical contact earth, COMMEMI models, topographic models which will produce apparent resistivity responses and phase impedances.
