Description
Summary:Household activities produce diverse waste such as organic waste, inorganic waste, to hazardous waste. In general, people still dispose of household hazardous waste produced mixed with other waste and can indirectly have a negative impact on human health and the environment. The purpose of this study is to analyse the generation, composition, and characteristics of household hazardous waste, analyse the relationship between hazardous waste generation and income level, analyse willingness to participate and willingness to pay, and examine the existing condition of household hazardous waste management patterns in Ujungberung District. The methods used are sampling, questionnaires, and interviews. Based on the measurement results, the generation of household hazardous waste in Ujungberung District as a whole is 0.0316 kg/person/day or 0.7032 l/person/day, and the density value is 0.0449 kg/l. The largest composition was found in diapers products by 40.5%, followed by home care product packaging by 18.13%, personal care product packaging by 12.80%, used paint packaging by 12.75%, electronic waste by 9.37%, medicine/medical packaging by 4.62%, used ink packaging by 1.43%, used gas and fuel packaging by 0.29%, and remaining mosquito poison packaging by 0.11%. The biggest characteristics are infectious by 36.18%, followed by toxic by 34.02%, flammable by 10.97%, explosive by 10.66%, and corrosive by 8.17%. The results of the correlation test between household hazardous waste generation and income levels show that there is a moderate correlation between the two and a positive relationship between the two. The results of data processing in the analysis of willingness to participate and willingness to pay can be seen from the results of the validity and reliability tests carried out. Respondents' achievement tests that provide neutral conclusions, disagree, and agree with the answers of the majority of respondents and multiple linear regression tests, there is no relationship between aspects of knowledge, awareness, and policies towards financing household hazardous waste management. Until now, hazardous waste is still handled, such as organic and inorganic waste. Therefore, recommendations are needed to improve household hazardous waste management services in Ujungberung District.
