Description
Summary:Mangrove ecosystems are important natural resources that can provide many benefits to society. Many mangroves in Indonesia have experienced deforestation and degradation. including the expansion of fish ponds. Angke Kapuk Nature Tourism Park (TWAAK) is one of the mangrove conservation areas which previously suffered damage due to the illegal opening of ponds. Efforts to rehabilitate mangroves in TWAAK and other mangrove areas need to be supported by the selection of the right species and an understanding of the characteristics of the place where they grow and their ability to regenerate. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential for mangrove regeneration in five zones based on the distance from land perpendicular to the sea found in TWAAK by looking at the composition of mangrove species, mangrove Important Value Index (IVI), regeneration status, and mangrove health conditions. Data collection was carried out through vegetation analysis using the transect method at eight selected stations using a purposive sampling technique. There are a total of 40 research plots. Five types of mangroves were found at the study site, namely Rhizophora mucronata, Avicennia marina, Rhizophora apiculata, Sonnneratia alba, and Rhizophora stylosa. Avicennia marina is a mangrove species with the highest INP value at all three tree levels (seedlings, saplings and trees). The regeneration status in the five zones was included in the sufficient category, which means that the number of seedlings was more than saplings and the number of saplings was less than or equal to the number of trees. The health condition of mangroves in all observation zones is included in the moderate category.
