Description
Summary:Saving data in digital format is proven to be safer than using the traditional hardcopied paper- based method. But to this day, we still use the latter method for various usages, such as undergraduate certificate verification, credit card information filling for online transcations, or just as simple as a written exams with handwritten answers. Thus, data convertion to digital format is often needed and the process takes relatively too much time and effort to do manually. One way to properly extract text informations from an image is to use optical character recognition. In this paper, three modules are developed: data synthesis, preprocessing, and mobile application as a part of a whole optical character recognition implementation for three scoped documents: undergraduate certificate, credit card, and handwritten text. These three modules will be connected with other modules: text detection, text recognition, and named entity recognition. The modules are developed successfully and evaluated to a great result. This research result may be useful for other individuals or organizations to perform data digitalization for undergraduate certificate, credit card, and handwritten text.
