Description
Summary:Four Wave Mixing (FWM) is one of the important nonlinear optical process which occurs in 3rd order nonlinear media. This process has the potential to be a photon source which needed in quantum processor and quantum circuit which based on photonics. The 3rd order nonlinear process is strongly demonstrated in silicon based media, but suffers from high loss and two photon absorption effect which are significant in silicon. Silicon nitride shows the potential as a medium to generate efficient FWM process due to its high transparency window and negligible two photon absorption at the telecommunication wavelength. In this Final Project, a ring resonator based on asymmetric double stripe silicon nitride is studied. A conversion efficiency of ?17.3602 dB is achieved with pump power of 1 mW in this structure.
