Description
Summary:Rural social entrepreneurship have a role in addressing the problem in communities by utilizing local resources. The issues faced by rural communities are complex and required the contextual involvement of social entrepreneurship. This means that economic activities carried out by rural social entrepreneurship must consider the needs of the community and the availability of local resources. Rural social entrepreneurship can be undertaken by both the government and private sector, which share the same business and social orientation to achieve the community wellbeing of the rural communities. In this study, there are two rural social entrepreneurship ventures being researched, namely the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa) Cisantana and Kulaku Indonesia. The research objective is to identify the influence of rural social entrepreneurship towards the community wellbeing of rural communities. Three components of community wellbeing are used in this study: economic, social, and cultural capital. To achieve the research objective, a comparative case study approach is used on rural social entrepreneurship in Cisantana, Kuningan Regency, and Muara Sungsang, Banyuasin Regency. The data are collected through semi-structured interviews based on purposive and snowball sampling. The collected data will be analyzed using qualitative analysis methods and antecedent analysis. The research findings indicate that there are differences in the influence of rural social entrepreneurship in the two study areas on community wellbeing. In conclusion, BUM Desa Cisantana contributes to the enhancement of economic and cultural capital but does not give an impact to social capital. However, Kulaku Indonesia contributes to the improvement of economic, social, and cultural capital of community wellbeing.
