Long-term wear is an important issue in the industrial world, with its most common form being the abrasive wear mechanism. Wear due to the presence of hard particles trapped in between interacting surfaces are called three-body abrasive wear, and it happens to aluminium alloys such as A356 which are commonly used as an engine cylinder block’s base material. This research is done to study the effects of lubricant type, abrasive powder type, and the abrasive powder to lubricant ratio as well as to determine the most influential factor in causing abrasive wear in A356 aluminium alloy. Wear tests are done by using a pin-on-disk apparatus in conditions without lubricants, with lubricants, as well as with lubricants and abrasive powders to obtain results in the form of mass loss due to abrasive wear. Visual observations of wear tracks as well as the OES method are also done to assist the analyses and draw conclusions. Wear test results shows that lubricants with higher viscosity, harder abrasive powders, and higher abrasive powder to lubricant ratios cause higher mass loss and wear. The most influential factors in causing abrasive wear in order are the type of abrasive powder, its ratio to lubricants, and the type of lubricant. text
